Project Context
Brief
Made for any surface, the Tradishions Trivet can handle your hottest dishes or keep you company at the dinner table by acting as a fidget tool to create unique forms. When not in use, it can be left standing as a decorative centerpiece. These design decisions were made with our insights in mind as a trivet for a centerpiece may seem out of place, but it can also inspire action, by encouraging you to manipulate its form or reminding you it's time to start cooking. It's there to do whatever you need it to, tying into the research we received focused on unconventional convenience.

We were selected to follow through with concept B, the conversation mat. Below, you can see one of the first prototypes we made, followed by the finished product:

We were tasked to make and sell ten of these at an event we held called the Winter Market. To consider packaging, we designed a sleeve that wraps around the trivet once it is easily folded:
